Monday on the Scale #7

Stepped on the scale today and realized no gain and no loss to my weight. But the scale is acting odd. Can't seem to calculate BMI, muscle mass, all that other good stuff I've been keeping track of. It just errors out. I tried four times, but faulted out each time. I'll check the batteries and hope for better next Monday. Peace out.

Karin's Party

Today was my one time step daughter's combination 19th birthday and going away party. She's moving to Tennessee to live with a friend. We had it at Dawn and Mark's place and I've got to thank them for letting us all use their place. It worked out great. Must have been 25 people at the party. Karin seemed pleased. Lots of gifts, well wishes, and attention for her. We took the Xbox and Guitar Hero and the kids all took turns playing it. My boys were there as well. I think it's the first time I've seen them since Christmas. It was good seeing them and I really need to make more of an effort to get together with them more often. Tyler says he's going to take his drivers license test on Monday. I look forward to hearing that he's gotten it. As a bonus, the boys gave me a couple of Xbox racing games back that they don't play, Project Gotham 3 and Test Drive Unlimited. The plan was to stay on that side of the state and go visit my buddies tomorrow, but nei

Let the Tour Begin

So the decision of Xbox 360 vs. Playstation 3 has been made. Which makes the decision of Rock Band 2 vs. Guitar Hero World Tour a no brainer. Since I won't be playing with my friends on PS3 and since my kids have Guitar Hero... We have a winner. And since today is payday I'm off to Sam's Club to make it a reality. Tasha thinks it'll be a fun game to take to the party this weekend and for two weeks from now when Kari and her daughter come out for a visit. I agree. Plus, I like to pretend I'm the rock star that I never got to be when I was young enough to pull it off. Should be a good time. Or at least that is my hope. Tonight we're leaving for the west side of the state. Saturday is Karin's birthday/going away party and then Sunday is going to be gaming with the guys. We're taking the Xbox, and tonight we'll get a chance to practice a bit with whoever is at moms. Enjoy your weekend. Later.

Short One about Many to Come

Got myself a hair cut today. As usual my only requirement being that it be shorter and that I not have to do any work to style the cut. After all, it's only hair. It'll grow back. I put a list of blog posts together. Things that I've meant to write about but just haven't managed to sit down and write out. It's a pretty long list. Intimidating even. I don't know when I'm going to have time to write out all these things. I guess I'll backdate them as I get them written out.

Hail to the Chief

Monday was a holiday, Presidents Day, and since the banks were closed, I had the day off. Yeah me. I spent the day relaxing, sleeping in, putzing around on the computer, playing some Xbox, just lazing about. I had some ideas about what I wanted to get done with my day off, but none of that happened. Ah well. We got Tasha set up with an Xbox Live ID, Punky Hope. Now we just need to get her some friends... I mean other than me, Arohen. We played some Left 4 Dead and I got some Microsoft Points and bought Ticket 2 Ride . It's a board game that the guys and I play on our game day's at Kevin's. I think they did a pretty good job in transferring it to the digital media. We had some fun playing it. I think it'll be a good purchase. Later.

Monday on the Scale #6

Feeling better this week, but having trouble getting back on the routine of hitting the gym everyday after work. Still eating healthy and being more vigilant of fast food. Resulting in losing the 1.8 pounds I gained last week, but nothing more.

Three for the Box

Well, I went to the store today to pick up a few things and ended up at Gamestop, don't cha know. I walked out with a discount card, a magazine subscription, and three new games. Project Gotham Racing 4 (PGR4) - A racing game. I've played all of the previous games and it's got to be my favorite racing game. Here's hoping that this one will be as cool and fun as the previous versions of the game. I'll probably get PGR3 back from my boys (they don't like racing games) but who knows when that'll be. Forza Motorsport 2 - A hyper realistic racing game. I thought the first one was ok. Though I'm not big on the super realistic driving physics (I'm not that good). It has a cool car customization engine that I rather enjoy. And the price was right. Left 4 Dead - Zombies. Tasha likes the zombie stuff. I'm hoping she'll play this one. Basically, the zombies are out and about and you've got to survive/escape/run like hell. Never played it before,

Be My Valentine

Happy Valentines Day to my love, Tasha. Tasha bought me a Xbox 360 as a Valentine's present. She's known that I've been wanting a gaming system and made the decision for me that I was unable to make. Which was very nice of her and I am very happy with this gift. I'd been struggling with the idea that three of my friends have Play Station 3 systems and one has a Xbox 360 (but it's mostly for his kids). And as such it doesn't make sense to buy a Xbox 360. But I HATE the PS3 controller and I don't give a good god damn about the blueray player and my kids have a Xbox 360. Not that I'll ever actually play a game with any of these people. We all just like different kinds of games. So Tasha in her infinite wisdom made the call for me. She rocks. And now I have a Xbox 360 Pro. Very Cool Beans. Additionally, we picked up Madden 2009 and a second controller. I doubt she'll play football with me, but the system came with Lego Indy and Kung Fu Panda, maybe she&#

Monday on the Scale #5

I've been sick, hell, I still feel sick. Not like I'm going to die, but just not feeling well all week. Even took a day off just to be sick last week. So no exercise this week to speak of, I think I made it to the gym twice. The result, weight gain. Stepped on the scale this morning to a gain of 1.8 pounds.

Finally, a Face to Face to Face Comparison

Last night we went to dinner and then to the Grand Rapids auto show. Dinner was at a piano bar that we'd both heard of, but I can't remember the name of at this moment. The food was okay, not great, but unfortunately we were there too early to see any actual dueling piano action. We told ourselves that we'd go back after the auto show and check out the music, even got our hands stamped for that purpose, but in the end we were tired and went home. We're so lame. The auto show itself was about what I expected. You certainly wouldn't have mistaken it for one of the big shows in Chicago or Detroit. I didn't notice that a lot of stuff wasn't there, but it just felt small and unexciting. We wandered around and looked at cars. Tasha even found a few that she liked. She seemed fond of the VW Beetle, Mini Cooper, and of course the Jaguars. I got to see and sit in the three cars that I wanted most to see, and were in fact the reason for going. The new Chevrolet Camaro

Thinking of Regents, Baenrahls and Bearers

Maybe you've heard that Doug is tinkering with my Baenrahl campaign setting . Or maybe you haven't. Whatever the case, I have. He asked me a while back if I'd mind him running something set in my world. Being as he is my best bud, I agreed. Saying something like, It'll be interesting to get your take on it, or some such. He hasn't actually run anything, but you can read his take on it here , here , here , here and here . I didn't think much of it at first, but when he started discussing it on his blog it got me thinking. We've been talking about this campaign setting for years so much of what he said wasn't a surprise and was actually expected. What was unexpected was that I realized how unfinished it was and how open to interpretation I'd left things and how that realization made me want to finish it. Not run anything in it, just finish the world building that I'd started. It got my creative juices flowing in a way that hasn't happened in m

Monday on the Scale #4

Well, I've not felt all that great this weekend. No energy, sluggish, stomach turning in circles, cough, all the signs that I'm heading toward getting sick. And to make things worse, I haven't made it to the gym since Wednesday. But what we all want to know is, how'd the weigh in go? I stepped on the scale this morning and it read a gain of 0.6 pounds. Maybe I just need to take a good shit, but if I'm honest it's because I've had a lazy week and fast food lunches Thursday and Friday.
