Nonsense Be Gone

As An Aside

Check out my YouTube channel and follow the career of my Madden NFL 25 avatar, Ronn McCarrick. As he goes from undrafted rookie sensation to NFL elite. Starting here with the first week of the regular season in his first year in the 1st and Ten online QB franchise. Ronn is starting his career on the road facing the New Orleans Saints. Of course, after winning the Super Bowl in season two of his career, my brother screwed the pooch on getting traded and he had to retire to keep everything fair. But season three brings you another Ronn McCarrick with a whole different set of skills.

Truckcast #86: Stay Off The Roof

Somewhere, someone must have heard me say that I was getting my workload under control... ...because it just went through the roof today. Here's your truckcast. [powerpress]

Happy MLK Jr Day

It's the third Monday in January. I get the day off. There is no mail delivery. School is closed. Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. An excerpt from his " I have a dream " speech I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.' I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation

And The Contenders Are

I didn't get to watch the Broncos Patriots game, but I did get the pleasure of listening to it on a radio station that lacked a certain amount of clarity. The Seahawks 49ers game was on my television, but wasn't really doing it for me. But both games are over and now we know who is going to the super bowl... I'm rooting for the Broncos, for Payton Manning, and for the memories of our Xbox football league back in the MCI days.

Last Two Walls Are Up

From 1433 48th St SE I may have missed out on hanging with my friends this weekend. And I'm probably going to miss the NFL Playoffs tomorrow as I finish the electrical. But the last two walls are up and the outlets are wired and working. So I feel a sense of accomplishment for the day. The Laundry Room is starting to come together. All I need to do now is; insulate the outside walls, patch the vent hole, run the plumbing, put the gypsum board up, finish the gypsum board, prime, paint, clean up the cement, put down a floor, install some cabinets, add the trim, paint the ceiling, and probably a dozen other things I haven't thought of yet. Almost done.

Don't Procrastinate

There seems to be a secret formula for the most successful and creative people out there. The ability to rise above the rest and make something amazing takes plenty of strength, support and timing. It also takes strategy, and this list of rules created by Tanner Christensen of Creative Something showcases a recipe for success that’s easier said than done. But with discipline, this list is a reminder to always keep around; worthy of a wallet, fridge or even a frame. Don't fucking procrastinate RULES OF A CREATOR'S LIFE Do More Than You're Told To Do. Try New Things Teach Others About What You Know. Make Work Into Play . Take Breaks. Work When Others Are Resting. Always Be Creating. Make Your Own Inspiration. Love What You Do , Or Leave.

First Novel of the Year

Book One of the Dray Prescot series. On the planet Kregen that circles Antares, the brightest star of the Constellation of the Scorpion, two forces contend for the world's destiny. One of them, the Savanti, called in a human pawn from far-away Earth. His name is Dray Prescot, and only the Savanti know his role. Dray Prescot confronted a fabulous world -- barbaric, unmapped, peopled with both human and non-human races. But there were always the Star Lords to watch and check the Savanti's plans. And it soon turned out that Dray Prescot himself had to make a decision that would change him from a mere pawn to a bolder piece on the planetary chessboard... (65000 words)

Truckcast #84: Introducing the Truckcast

Time to update the drapes and change the throw pillows around this place. It's not the greatest, but it's a start... [powerpress]

So You Think You're Lost

Quotable Jordan E. Rosenfeld

“The sooner you start the action in a scene, the more momentum it has to carry the reader forward. If you find yourself explaining an action, then you’re not demonstrating the action any longer; you’re floating in a distant star system known as ‘Nebulous Intellectulus’ – more commonly known as your head – and so is the reader.” —Jordan E. Truckcast #83: New Year, New Truckcast

Let's kick-off the new year right. I'm talking a Truckcast kick-off. Let's do this thing... [powerpress]

It's Your Process

Closing in on the Playoffs

My brother had some difficulty facilitating a trade before season three in our Madden 25 franchise, so I was forced to retire my character and build a new one. The newest version of myself in the game is on the Detroit Lions. My brother is running with the Kansas City Chiefs. As of week 14 we're both undefeated and putting up huge numbers in our rookie seasons. I expect a Superbowl match-up to determine who gets all the marbles and the bragging rights. The Wildfire-Hydra offense I'm running is a high-speed, no huddle, multi-threat nightmare for opposing defenses. I think I'm up for a rumble.

Resolutions for the New Year

New Year Resolution #5

I resolve to complete 100 consecutive push-ups by years end I have Rittr fitness apps on my phone for push-ups, pull-ups, squats, and sit-ups. This year I plan on getting fitter and losing some inches along my waistline. I've always been a big believer in the power of calisthenics. This year I'm going to harness that power. Going to start slow... like I have any choice... and work myself up to doing one hundred consecutive push-ups. I may drag the squats, sit-ups, and pull-ups along with that, but that's not the resolution. Fitness here I come.

New Year Resolution #4

I resolve to read at least one book a month I listen to a lot of audio books. It's been a long while since I spent any time reading actual books, you know, the kind with actual text that you have to read. The kind that don't read themselves to you. Books. eBooks. Whatever. I haven't been doing it much lately. READ A LOT WRITE A LOT That's the first bit of advice that every aspiring writer recieves. Right now, I'm not doing so much of either. Time to change that. I have lots of books. Writing books. Reference books. Gaming books. Books of fiction. Books of paper. And books of an digital nature. I like books. I just have not given myself the time or luxury to read them in a long time. Every so often I pick something up and read it. But I'm going to make it my goal to have read at least one book in each of the twelve months of two thousand and fourteen. Twelve books read this year. Minimum. You'll get a post for each one, for better or worse.

New Year Resolution #3

I resolve to take the dog for a walk every day After dinner, before the television watching proceeds, the dog shall go for a walk of at least a half-hour duration. I was doing pretty well at this, right up until the snow fell and the path became unclear. I mean know one wants to walk the dog in the snow, right? Okay, probably no one wants to walk the dog period. Or at least no one in my house, judging by the fact that if I don't do it, no one does it. Most nights anyway. Sometimes when the moon and stars line up just right and the sky is just the right shade of dark; on those nights someone who is not me will walk the dog. But mostly, it's my job. The dog gets a bit unmanageable when he doesn't get a walk. I get a bit fat when I don't get any exercise. Really, it's a win, win for both of us. So rain or shine the dog will get his walk. I resolve it. So shall it be.

New Year Resolution #2

I resolve to stop eating fast food and to stop drinking soda This is the second of five New Year Resolutions that I challenged you, my beloved readers, and myself to come up with. If I am successful at this one, I should both feel better and lose some weight. I imagine your results would be similar. I mean, really, we all know this stuff is terrible for our bodies. It's like poison; delicious, convenient poison. Outside of my working hours I don't hardly ever touch the stuff, but put me in the van and start the work day and it's like the stuff has a sirens call over me. It's so easy, so convenient, so easy to slip the van through the drive-thru... But enough! No more of that. No longer will I give in to the temptation. Once again I will discipline myself to ward against this sirens song. And in doing so my wallet and my waistline will both reap the rewards. Starting today. No more fast food. No more soda. No more I say... well, how about starting on the 13th... that sou

New Year Resolution #1

I resolve to post something new on this website everyday. This is the first of 2014's five resolutions. Laziness is the only thing that keeps it from happening now. Well, that and a lack of content. It should be a pretty easy one to keep, as I can que up content of days or weeks at a time if I so choose. The trick is to not have it all be pictures of me in various 'LOLcats', as Denis calls them. Oh, and I need to figure out how to get stuff off my phone... you know... since I dropped a pipe wrench on it and the USB port is acting all funny-like. But I am confident that I can over come these challenges and provide you with new content on a daily basis. Unless, of course, I get sick on New Year's Eve and feel like shit for a week or so and then we get a bunch of crazy ass cold weather that makes me work 50-hours a week while feeling like crap so that I end up just wanting to sleep by the time I get home. But barring that, I can provide you with new content everyday and ma
